  The Bible as inerrant and complete, or sufficient.

  i think we will agree that the wt holds it that the bible is the inerrant word of god.

  this is an idea that i just learned from a blog.. the idea is very, very simple:.

  the bible is considered "inerrant" and "sufficient".. meaning, it contains no errors, but it is also all you need for salvation.

  Name Some Stupid Watchtower Rules or Ideas

  there's a lot.. one rule that is dumb is that a brother must wear a suit for a sunday public talk that he is giving.

  any other time, the brother could wear a suit coat with a different pair of pants and not be counseled for it.. another dumb idea is that you cannot date a person unless you seriously might marry them.

  if you're on a date, you were supposed to always have a chaperone and holding hands might not be allowed as well as sitting together.. what other dumb rules and ideas can you add?.

  a year after my parents were baptized i was born in 1954. that same year my father was appointed presiding overseer and remained in that position until the early sixties despite the fact he was still smoking.

  he gained the position by default because he was the only baptized man who could read.

  thus began my life course of abuse, neglect and cult thinking.

  Cult Survivor/ Ex JW. Now an Atheist with a Phd equivalent in Awake and Watchtower-not!

  For a while I had just Christian, then I changed it to cult survivor/exjw. Then I took the exjw off because for a short while I too felt being exjw didn't define who I was, but now I think that it does and will do until I stop visiting sites like this. I am now definitely an Atheist.

  How often do disassociated people go back to the organization?

  a friend disassociated in order to get divorced, hoping not to get disfellowshipped.

  some time later, he has a serious non-jw girlfriend whom he'll probably end up marrying.

  the thing is, he didn't disassociate because he no longer believed the wt doctrines.

  I am also aware of a very rich elder who left his wife and kids for a model and got disfellowshipped. The model converted, he was reinstated and is now an elder again. His ex wife never went back. (His daughter was in my cong and she is now disfellowshipped as is her brother). He completely destroyed his original family and none of them fully recovered but he is in fine standing and an elder again!

  I have just remembered another one. Son of the sister I studied with had an affair with a woman at work and got her pregnant. He left his wife (she disassociated herself about 3 years later and hasn't gone back) they got married a couple of years later and she has since converted.

  In my KH of the 21 that I remember being d'fd only 3 never came back but they may have moved on to different congs. I was only aware of 2 faders, parents of a pioneer and everyone still spoke to them.

  My query is this:

  if the Bible is the inerrant word of God, why are there books that are quoted in the Bible not in it now but were originally included prior to the council of Nicea. If however, they are spurious God surely would not have quoted from them. If they are not spurious why didn't he make sure they were included in the canon we have today?
